Abu Dhabi is much more then just 1000 and 1 night flair. It is diverse, up-to-date and a shopping paradise. And it makes children’s dreams come true. Furthermore it is just gigantic! My son and I were so enthusiastic about our journey that we would have loved to reenter the plane right away.

The view from our bathtub in the Jumeirah Hotel

A few days just for the two of us (without my husband and our daughter) is very rare. For once we had some  mummy-son time on our own. And we really spoiled ourselves. We stayed at the classy Hotel Jumeirah at the bay of the Arabic Sea. The view alone from the bath tub left us almost speechless.

The private beach in Jumeirah

Our Hotel had everything you can ask for. Restaurants, bars and a private beach. And it is located in the middle of one of the sightseeing must-dos: the Ethihad Towers They rise majestically into the sky.

Outstanding in Abu Dhabi: the Etihad Towers

Furthermore you can shop till you drop.

If you don’t want to shop in the hotel stores, though,  I highly recommend the Marina Mall  a 36.000 sqm gigantic shopping mall.

Marina Mall

Facing them is a huge Ferris wheel. In addition you find the famous Marina Mall Tower just behind. There you will find everything to overheat your credit card.

By the way: my son Nicolas (9) and I could travel easily by taxi. That’s really cheap. Of course we also visited the famous strolling mile Corniche in Abu Dhabi.

Corniche

Almost too perfect and situated directly at the beach. It is really great in the afternoon with all the skaters, joggers, small booths and the public beaches!

Ferrari World

But Nicolas highlight number 1 was Ferrari World.

Nicolas 2nd highlight definitely was the viewing plattform at  the Ethiad Towers  on the 74th floor. You can also reach that spot through the Jumeirah Hotel.

Viewing plattform

When we entered the looby we had the feeling to have reached a kingdom.

Pompous lobby

Everything seemed pompous! The windows are 28 m high and this is where arabs love to enjoy their coffee with camel milk (very tasty by the way). The Plattform is 300 m high and offers and phantastic 360 degrees view over the town. Of course Abu Dhabi has much more to offer: the beautiful Sheikh Zayed Mosque for example or the Yas Waterworld. But we also wanted to relax a bit. But at least we have a reason more to return soon!
